My dad taught me

I gained technical, on-the-job expertise by mastering the fine points of each craft and learning how to successfully execute every project to completion.
When I was 12, I went to work with my dad, who was putting an addition on a home. Watching my dad orchestrate the transformation of the home from paper plans to reality captivated me. He taught me from the bottom up – I learned how to build a robust and thick wall, pour a perfect foundation, calculate a perfectly coffered ceiling, and fill every inch in a dumpster. After 50 years on the job, Dad still comes around; “Big Ed,” as he is affectionately described, always lends a helping hand or gives a word of advice.
